Bunions

If your big toe looks misshapen and protrudes from the side of your foot, you could have a bunion, a bony protrusion of the big toe joint that can cause friction and pain when wearing shoes. A bunion found on the outside of the foot near the baby toe, known as a bunionette or Tailors Bunion, can also cause intense pain. Bunions usually result from wearing shoes with a narrow toe box, or if your foot tends to over-pronate (roll in) excessively when walking. This causes the big toe to deviate toward the outside of the foot while the bone in front of it shifts toward the inside of the foot.

How Z-CoiL® footwear can help:

A wide toe box in all Z-CoiL® styles provides plenty of toe room, and the upper can be stretched to relieve painful pressure on an existing bunion. The coil in the heel can also be adjusted to compensate for over-pronation, which may contribute to the formation of bunions.
