What is an Orthotic?

An orthotic (orthosis) is a rigid device used to correct and/or stabilize the foot.  Today there are many brands of soft insoles that claim to be “orthotics” however most are soft.  An orthotic needs to but extremely “rigid” otherwise its ability to correct or stabilize the foot is greatly diminished.

Insoles are simply a soft insert designed to go into a shoe, and should never be considered an “orthotic” or used in the place of a true orthotic.

Purpose

A true orthotic is a very powerful tool which has the ability to enhance performance or reducing injury and pain. Orthotics are used by everyone from athletes to the elderly to accommodate biomechanical deformities and a variety of soft tissue inflammatory conditions such as plantar fasciitis, heel spurs and very often to for over-pronation.  An orthotic can realigning foot joints while standing, walking or running.  Orthotics are used heavily within the orthopedic, Podiatrist and Chiropractic communities as means of treating foot, knee, hip, and spine ailments and deformities.

Custom vs. After-market Orthotic

There are many brands of after-market orthotics.  The advantage of after-market or prefabricated orthotics is that they are relatively inexpensive however since they are not designed for any one particular foot the fit is not as good as custom orthotic.  A custom orthotic on the other had has a great fit but is usually very expensive ranging from $200-$1,000.  The greatest limitation on both custom and after-market orthotics is they are not designed to fit your shoe.  As a result the shoe may get very tight, be unnaturally lifted or become unstable.

The Z-CoiL Orthotic Solution

Z-CoiL Footwear is the only footwear engineered with a built-in orthotic.  As a result the fit within the foot cavity is exceptional.  The orthotic in Z-CoiL footwear called the Z-Orthotic can also be heat adjusted to accommodate your particular foot type.  The Z-Orthotic is also one of the strongest engineered orthotics which allows it to cure plantar fasciitis or heel-spurs immediately.  Z-CoiL footwear also is priced between $200-$300 making it a exceptional value in relation to is effectiveness to treat foot, leg and back pain.

Z-CoiL footwear is neither a shoe nor medical device, is something all together different.  An example is the spring unit that bolts on to the Z-Orthotic.  Not only can you replace different sized springs based on your weight and desired resistance, the springs can be rotated to adjust for pronation.  Each Z-CoiL spring can be rotated in 90 degree increments changing the resistance on the inside vs. outside of the foot allowing for easy pronation control.

Z-CoiL also builds a shoe called “Bio-Trek” that features the same rigid built-in orthotic but without any spring.  You can visit Bio-Trek at www.biotrekfootwear.com

We recommend that you try Z-CoiL shoes for 30 days, at work or play.  If they do not your expectations you may return them for a full refund (30-Day Risk Free Trial).  Our mission at Z-CoiL is to help people enjoy life on their feet.  If you have any questions on orthotics please call us at 800.268.6239.  We hope we have the opportunity to serve you.  Team Z-CoiL.
